TAIPEI (ICIS)--Taiwan's Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corp (FCFC) plans to cap the operating rate at its phenol/acetone plant in Mailiao at 90% capacity in May, a source close to the company said on Friday.

The plant, which comprises two lines with a combined 400,000 tonne/year phenol capacity and 250,000 tonne/year acetone capacity, has been running at the reduced rate since late April because of poor economics, the source said.

“Run rate will be capped at 90% if prevailing weak market condition continues,” the source said.
