SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Oman’s Salalah Methanol Co (SMC) may restart its 3,125 tonne/day methanol plant in Salalah by 17 May after taking it off line in late April, a company source said on Friday.
The plant may be restarted at the end of the week of 13 May, the source said, but it remains unconfirmed.
The plant was taken off line on 23 April following an outage and it was expected that repairs would take two to three weeks.
The plant’s methanol is produced using feedstock natural gas, which is supplied by Oman’s Ministry of Oil and Gas through the country’s pipeline systems.
Other methanol producers in the country include Oman Methanol.
