TAIPEI (ICIS)--China’s Shenghong Group plans to start up its new 1.5m tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant at Lianyungang in Jiangsu in December 2013, a company source said on Friday.
The majority of output from its new PTA plant will be mainly for captive usage in the company’s polyester sectors, the source said.
Shenghong is one of the biggest producers of polyester filament yarn in China. It has a total 1.05m tonnes/year of polycondensation capacity at Wujiang in Jiangsu province.
“Securing of feedstock would not be a big issue as they are rapid expansion plans for paraxylene (PX) in the year 2014,” the source added.
The source was speaking at the sidelines of the Asian Petrochemical Industry Conference (APIC) held in Taipei on 9-10 May.
