HOUSTON (ICIS)--LyondellBasell’s Channelview facility near Houston is coming back on line, according to market participants and a company filing with Texas environmental regulators.

The company said in a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) that there was a benzene-related emissions event caused by an exchanger head leak discovered during a unit start-up.

Exchanger bolts were retorqued to minimize emissions until a complete repair is made.
The start-up is in line with expectations that the plant could be back on line about early-to-mid May.

Market participants within the aromatics and butanediol (BDO) industry had said back in the first week of March that the Channelview plant was taking a scheduled turnaround.

Production at the Channelview facility includes benzene, styrene, ethylene, propylene and BDO among its products.
