MELBOURNE (ICIS)--China’s Rizhao Jiahong Biological Technology is capping the operating rate at its 100,000 tonne/year ethyl acetate (etac) plant at Rizhao in Shandong province at 60% after restarting it on 14 May, a company source said on Thursday.

The producer plans to keep this reduced etac production because of weak market conditions, the source said.

Slow demand and weak margins prompted the producer to take its plant off line on 22 April. The producer has extended the shutdown of the plant from its initial plan of 10-15 days.
