Sinopec Shanghai Gaoqiao shuts No 1 reformer on fire accident

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Sinopec Shanghai Gaoqiao shut its 800,000 tonne/year No 1 continuous reformer at Shanghai following a fire on Thursday morning, a company source said.

The unit is expected to be restarted in three to five days as “it’s just a minor accident”, according to the source.

The blaze happened at around 10:20 local time (02:20 GMT) and was extinguished at 10:35 with no casualties, according to a report by the local media, citing a statement from the company.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Sinopec Shanghai Gaoqiao also operates a 800,000 tonne/year No 2 reformer at the same site.
