LONDON (ICIS)--February perchloroethylene (perc) exports from Europe increased steeply from February 2012, data from European statistics agency Eurostat showed on Tuesday.
February 2013 exports to the rest of the world amounted to 10,556 tonnes, compared with 2,947 tonnes in February 2012.
The February 2013 export total included 6,997 tonnes that was sent to China.
January 2013 perc exports totalled 6,012 tonnes, down by 8% from 6,537 tonnes in January 2012.
Eurostat import/export data is subject to revision as more detailed information becomes available.
Perc is used in several applications, the principal ones being dry-cleaning and metal-cleaning. European producers include Dow, Solvay, Anwil and Spolchemie.
