HOUSTON (ICIS)--US polymer materials firm PolyOne is installing thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) capability at its site in Diadema in Brazil’s Sao Paulo state, according to a statement on Tuesday.
PolyOne said that the new capability – to be operational in June – would reduce the amount of lead time required to serve South American customers and increase its ability to support global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
Financial or capacity details were not disclosed.
PolyOne’s target growth markets in South America include transportation, healthcare, consumer goods and packaging.
In 2011, PolyOne acquired Uniplen Industria de Polimeros (Uniplen), a Brazilian producer of specialty engineered materials and distributor of thermoplastics, to strengthen its position in the region.
