HOUSTON (ICIS)--Formosa Plastics released on Wednesday unknown amounts of ethylene dichloride (EDC), vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) and hydrochloric acid (HCl) from its facility in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, according to a report made available on Thursday from the National Response Center.
According to the filing, a gasket/flange was leaking to an outlet, causing the release, the report said. The flange was tightened after about an hour, according to the filing.
The report did not specify whether or not production was disrupted by the release.
