MELBOURNE (ICIS)--China’s Zhenjiang LCY General Chemical plans to shut its 24,000 tonne/year methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) plant at Zhenjiang in Jiangsu province for a turnaround in July, market sources said on Monday.
The plant is expected to be shut for 20-25 days of annual maintenance starting in late July, the sources said.
The plant’s operating rate has been capped at about 70% capacity by an ongoing feedstock hydrogen supply shortage, the sources added.
Zhenjiang LCY is a unit of Taiwan’s LCY Group, which also operates a 20,000 tonne/year MIBK plant at Linyuan in Taiwan.
Other MIBK makers in China include Ningbo Zhenyang, Jilin Petrochemical, Zhejiang Xinhua and Taizhou Petrochemical.
