TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s production of vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) rose by 20% year on year to 38,962 tonnes in March, official industry figures showed on Monday.
Domestic shipments of VAM for polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) production increased by 18% to 31,151 tonnes from the previous year, while exports were up by 12% to 502 tonnes, according to the VAM POVAL industry association.
Meanwhile, the country’s output of PVOH increased by 23% year on year to 16,686 tonnes in March, the data showed.
Domestic shipments of PVOH for vinylon fibres were up by 10% to 5,939 tonnes from the previous year, while exports rose by 16% to 8,669 tonnes, according to the association.
