SINGAPORE (ICIS)--The Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries (Orpic) refinery in Sohar is running at reduced capacity, a source close to the company said on Tuesday.

No details were immediately available on the running rates. The 117,000 bbl/day refinery was shut down in late February for scheduled maintenance.

The Sohar refinery features a 75,250 bbl/day residue fluid catalytic cracking (RFCC) unit.

The RFCC unit – also running at reduced capacity – produces 327,000 tonnes/year of propylene, providing the feedstock for a 340,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) plant at the site.

Orpic comprises Oman Refineries and Petrochemicals, Aromatics Oman and Oman Polypropylene.
