HOUSTON (ICIS)--US total April ethylene production fell by 2.3% month on month, according to the Hodson Report issued Tuesday from consulting firm Jacobs Consultancy.

Total April ethylene production was at 4.352b lb (1.974m tonnes), down from 4.455b lb in March, due mostly to the loss of one day of production.

Daily ethylene production in April was higher by 0.9% from March, up to 145.1m lb/day from 143.7m lb/day.

This was because operating rates at US crackers increased to 89.7% in April from 88.9% in March.

Feedslate composition was largely steady, with ethane-based ethylene production moving up to 2.705b lb from 2.695b lb.

Propane-based production fell to 1.119b lb from 1.182b lb, and naphtha-based production dropped to 306m lb from 311m lb.

As a result, feedslate composition shifted by 0.3% toward lighter feeds, according to the report.
