MELBOURNE (ICIS)--Chinese producer Jiangsu Sopo Chemical has increased its ethyl acetate (etac) output following the restoration of its feedstock acetic acid supply, a company source said on Friday.

The producer increased the operating rate at its 500,000 tonne/year etac plant at Zhenjiang in Jiangsu province to about 50% of capacity since the middle of this week, from 40% throughout most of April and May, the source said.

The higher etac plant operating rate was made possible by stable operations at its largest 600,000 tonne/year acetic acid plant, which was restarted on 19 May, the source said.

Domestic etac prices in east China were stable for a fifth consecutive week at yuan (CNY) 5,700-5,900/tonne ($930-962/tonne) EXW (ex-works), according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.
