HOUSTON (ICIS)--US industrial gases producer Air Products announced on Monday that it has acquired US liquid carbon dioxide (CO2) producer EPCO Carbon Dioxide.
The acquisition allows Air Products to expand its North American offerings to include liquid CO2, which the company already offers in its other regions around the world.
Based in Louisiana, EPCO has 12 CO2 purification and liquefaction plants predominantly located in central US.
The acquisition includes Illinois-based Louisiana Leasing, which owns liquid CO2 distribution assets solely leased to EPCO.
Financial terms were not disclosed, Air Products said.
“EPCO's geographic footprint overlaps nicely with our existing infrastructure such that we expect both cost and revenue synergy benefits,” said Nelson Squires, vice president and general manager of North American merchant gases at Air Products.
“Not only does this acquisition make Air Products a fully-integrated supplier of bulk industrial process gases, but a combined offering of liquid nitrogen and liquid CO2 is expected to strengthen our sales of liquid nitrogen in markets we already serve,” Squires added.
