US ABS imports rose by 2.5% in April; exports up 23%, ITC

HOUSTON (ICIS) – US imports of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) rose by 2.5% in April to 11,760 tonnes from 11,471 tonnes a year ago, according to data released Thursday by the US International Trade Commission.

April imports were also higher compared with March, when they were 10,873 tonnes, the ITC said.

US exports of ABS rose by 23% to 9,055 tonnes in April from 7,372 tonnes a year ago. April ABS exports also increased from March, when they were 7,981 tonnes, according the ITC.

The largest sources of imports in April were Taiwan at 3,595 tonnes, Korea at 3,287 tonnes, and Mexico at 3,071 tonnes, ITC reported. For ABS exports in April, the US sent 3,226 tonnes to Mexico and 3,072 tonnes to Canada.
