SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shandong Fuwin New Material plans to increase its polybutylene succinate capacity to 105,000 tonnes/year in 2013, a company source said on Thursday.

The company currently has a total polybutylene succinate capacity of 25,000 tonnes/year.

Its 20,000 tonne/year polybutylene succinate unit in Shangdong province was started up at the end of May 2013, while the other 5,000 tonne/year polybutylene succinate unit at the same site was brought on stream in June 2012, the source added.

The company plans to complete the construction of an 80,000 tonne/year polybutylene succinate unit at the same site this year, increasing its total production capacity to 105,000 tonnes/year, according to the source.

No further details of the new plant were disclosed.

Polybutylene succinate is usually used as the raw materials in manufacturing biodegradable plastics.
