SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s Daicel Industries is on track to restart operations at its 420,000 tonne/year acetic acid plant at Himeiji, Hyogo prefecture, by 21 June following a one-month turnaround, according to a company official.

“We plan to restart around 20 to 21 June,” the official said.

Prior to the shutdown, the plant was running at 100% capacity and it is expected to be operated at full capacity after the restart, he added.

The company conducts a turnaround at its plant every two years.

The turnaround is unlikely to affect the company’s market significantly as it had sufficient inventory, the official added.

Major acetic acid producers in Asia include BP, Celanese, China’s Jiangsu Sopo, Shanghai Wujing, Yankuang Cathay Coal Chemicals and Taiwan’s Chang Chun Petrochemical.
