SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Bisphenol A (BPA) imports to the EU from the rest of the world decreased by 54% in March 2013 compared with March 2012, data from statistics agency Eurostat showed on Tuesday.

Imports also dropped on a monthly basis in March, by 6% compared with February.

Exports increased by 159% in March 2013 compared with March 2012, and they were up by 15% compared with February 2013.

Demand for BPA from the downstream epoxy resins and polycarbonate (PC) industries continued to be weak in March and this has led to sellers seeking new markets for their surplus BPA. Imports dropped for the same reasons.
