LONDON (ICIS)--BASF-Sonatrach Propanchem (BSP) is currently restarting its propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit in Tarragona, Spain, following an unplanned outage, a company source said on Friday.

“We are restarting the plant right now [and] according to our schedule, we will be in operation beginning of next week,” the source said.

The unit, which has the capacity to produce 350,000 tonnes/year of propylene, was shut down about two weeks ago for technical reasons.

The PDH underwent planned maintenance in February-March.

BSP is a 50:50 joint venture between Germany’s BASF and Algerian oil and gas producer Sonatrach. Sonatrach has been seen offering out a propane cargo as a result.
