SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Jiangsu Hongxin Chemical plans to shut its 150,000 tonne/year plasticizer unit at Nantong in Jiangsu province at the end of June for scheduled maintenance, a source close to the company said on Monday.
The plasticizer unit is currently producing more than 200 tonnes/day of output in view of the pending turnaround, the source added.
The unit’s shutdown is not likely to lead to an increase in dioctyl phthalate (DOP) prices in the Chinese domestic market as demand is weak, a trader said.
Domestic DOP prices in east China were assessed at yuan (CNY) 11,275/tonne ($1,839/tonne) EXWH (ex-warehouse) east China on 24 June, stable from 21 June, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.
Jiangsu Hongxin Chemical is a key plasticizer producer in Nantong.
