HOUSTON (ICIS)--US methyl methacrylate (MMA) truck and rail prices settled at rollovers for June on stable market conditions, including flat May feedstock barge acetone contract settlements, sources confirmed on Thursday.

The MMA rollovers hold June rail prices at $1.18-1.22/lb ($2,601-2,700/tonne, €1,995-2,071/tonne), as assessed by ICIS. MMA truck prices for June are concurrently flat at $1.20-1.24/lb.

May MMA truck and rail values were previously assessed down by an average of 2 cents/lb on upstream weakness and delayed spring coatings demand. However, sources described current supply as balanced to tight as demand has risen slightly during June, which is typically the peak of the MMA season, despite a delayed and softer springs coatings season this year.

In the meantime, at least one MMA producer has announced its intent to increase July contract prices by 4 cents/lb on anticipated higher June acetone barge prices and tighter, more costly upstream refinery-grade propylene (RGP).

Major US MMA producers include Evonik, Arkema and Dow Chemical.
