SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s LG Chem cut the operating rate at its phenol/acetone plant in Daesan on 1 July to 70% because of prevailing weak market conditions, a company source said on Friday.

The plant, which has a phenol nameplate capacity of 300,000 tonnes/year and an acetone nameplate capacity of 180,000 tonnes/year, was running at full capacity prior to the production cut, the source said.

The plant will be running at the reduced operating rates until the end of July, the source added.

The company’s phenol/acetone plant at Yeosu, which can produce 300,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 180,000 tonnes/year of acetone, is running at full rate, the source said.
