SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Sinopec Maoming Co has produced a record ethylene (C2) output of 555,400 tonnes in the first half of this year, up 3.5% year on year, its parent firm Sinopec said on Wednesday.
Sinopec Maoming has two naphtha crackers in Guangdong province with a combined ethylene capacity of 1.02m tonnes/year.
Average output at the crackers was at 3,068 tonnes/day in the first six monthsm, achieved through optimizing feedstock structure and reasonable management, Sinopec said in a newsletter posted on its website.
Sinopec Maoming’s ethylene output is kept primarily for captive use to produce derivatives such as polyethylene (PE), a company source said.
