LONDON (ICIS)--CNOOC Oil and Petrochemical has licensed INEOS Technologies’ Innovene S HDPE process for a new polyethylene plant in Huizhou, Guandong Province, China, INEOS said on Thursday.
The 400,000 tonne/year high density polyethylene (HDPE) plant will be built as part of a cracker project and refinery upgrade being undertaken by CNOOC.
The Chinese company received approval for the refinery upgrade and a 1m tonne/year naphtha cracker from the National Development and Reform Commission (NRDC) in May this year.
The HDPE plant will produce a wide range of polyethylene grades including commodity material and bimodal PE for pipe products, according to INEOS.
Polymer maker LyondellBasell said in June that CNOOC Oil and Petrochemical Co would use its Spherizone technology for a 400,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) plant to be built in Huizhou.
