LONDON (ICIS)--Italian-headquartered polyethylene (PE) producer Versalis has closed its order books for July for low density polyethylene (LDPE), the company announced on Monday.
“Due to a low inventory level and to … significant rising costs of feedstocks, we have closed the order book [for LDPE] for this month,” the company said.
Prices for LDPE have been under heavy upward pressure for some weeks because of tightness in the LDPE market.
The announcement from Versalis comes less than a week after Dow Europe placed a stop on fresh orders of LDPE.($1 = €0.77)
