SINGAPORE (ICIS)--PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC) will keep its 300,000 tonne/year low density polyethylene (LDPE) plant at Map Ta Phut, Thailand shut for around three months because of mechanical problems, a source close to the company said on Wednesday.

“The plant was shut in the middle of last week,” the source said.

PTTGC will have excess spot ethylene cargoes to sell as a result of the LDPE plant shutdown, he added.

PTTGC’s LDPE export markets are China and Southeast Asia, he said.
