SINGAPORE (ICIS)--India's Tamil Nadu Petroproducts Ltd (TPL) expects to ramp up to full production at its linear alkylbenzene plant by the end of this week, following its restart on 13 July, a source close to the company said on Tuesday.
“The plant is currently operating at 85% of its installed capacity, but is in the process of achieving full output,” the source said.
The 120,000 tonne/year plant, located near Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, had been shut down for close to two months because of feedstock issues, the source said.
A shortage, coupled with high cost, of feedstock normal-paraffin globally in recent months forced TPL to keep the plant shut for an extended period, market sources said.
Prices of n-paraffin are currently heard at $1,425-1,470/tonne (€1,083-1,117/tonne) CFR Asia, they said.
LAB prices were assessed at $1,810-1,820/tonne CFR India in the week ended 17 July, according to ICIS.
