LONDON (ICIS)--Switzerland-headquartered chemicals producer INEOS said on Wednesday that is has doubled the size of its isoamylene (IA) unit in Cologne, Germany.

The work was carried out during a recent five-week turnaround at the unit, INEOS added.

Run by company subsidiary INEOS Oligomers, the unit had a capacity of 6,000 tonnes/year before the upgrade, according to ICIS data.

“The unit will exploit the C5 feed on-site integration with the local Cologne crackers, that provides advantages in terms of feed cost and security of supply,” said Bob Learman, CEO of INEOS Oligomers.

IA is used as a raw material in the fragrance, pesticide, peroxide, polymer antioxidants and hydrocarbon resins markets.
