HOUSTON (ICIS)--US August methanol contracts rolled over on Thursday as Methanex and Southern Chemical Corp (SCC) repeated their previous monthly postings at 160 cents/gal and 162 cents/gal, respectively.
US methanol watchers this week seemed divided on expectations, with those predicting a rollover of July’s 160-162 cents/gal postings saying the market had sunk into a summer slump, reflected by stagnant methanol spot barge prices.
SCC and Methanex historically have set monthly methanol contracts with their postings.
US methanol spot barge prices on Thursday remained at 138-139 cents/gal, lodged toward the low end of a range that has held for about two months.
