Argentine June chemical production falls 3.6% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Argentina’s June chemical production fell 3.6% year on year, industry sources said on Friday.

Production of basic chemical products was down by 28.3%, said Argentina’s Statistics Institute (INDEC). The institute does not provide tonnage figures for production.

Production of industrial gases was down by 7.4% in June, and production of plastic raw materials and synthetic rubber was down by 7.6%.

Agrochemicals production was up by 20.6%, while production of pharmaceutical products declined by 4.9%.

Production of detergents, soaps and personal products increased in June by 4.5% compared with the same month of 2012.

Meanwhile, in the plastic products and rubber tyres production bloc, combined production increased by 4.6%.

Rubber tyre production was down by 0.4% in June, while production of plastic products increased by 5.7%, INDEC said.
