NEW YORK (ICIS)--US production of paraxylene (PX) declined about 1% in the second quarter from the first quarter, according to data made available in a survey by American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) on Wednesday.
Production fell to 1.88bn lbs (853,000 tonnes) in Q2 2013 from 1.90bn lbs in the first quarter, the AFPM said.
Meanwhile, US PX inventory fell 0.4% to 423m lbs in the first quarter from 425m lbs in Q1 2013, the group said.
AFPM’s quarterly data is based on voluntary reports.
Participating in the Q2 survey were BP, Chevron Philips, Eastman Chemical, ExxonMobil, Flint Hills Resources and Invista.
