Japan's Adeka Q1 net profit up 59%; chem sales up 4.7%

TOKYO (ICIS)--Adeka Corp’s first-quarter net profit rose by 59% year on year to yen (Y) 2.42bn ($24.8m), partly boosted by sales of automative products in North America and southeast Asia, the Japanese producer said on Thursday.

Its net sales rose by 3.6% year on year to Y46.7bn in the three months ending 30 June this year, while operating profit was up by 27% at Y3.16bn, the company said in a statement.

The firm’s chemicals business saw its sales rising by 4.7% year on year to Y32.5bn in the same period on the back of higher resin additives sales, while operating profit was up by 26% at Y2.56bn.
