LONDON (ICIS)--Major European methyl methacrylate (MMA) producer Lucite International lifted sales control on 31 July, as planned, a source from the company said on Thursday.
“We're out of sales control,” the source said.
In a statement to its customers, the producer said: “Lucite International’s Europe, Africa, Middle East (EAME) Monomers business confirms that the sales control on MMA, methacrylic acid (MAA) and n-butyl methacrylate (NBMA) manufactured at its Cassel site has now ended. The repair to the technical fault was carried out in line with expectations."
The company had placed its customers on sales control on 17 June because of technical problems at the UK-based facility.
MMA supply in Europe has tightened in the past six weeks, and demand from the plastics and coatings sector was steady through July.
August demand will soften compared to July, but it is stronger than expected, sources said. The coatings season has been extended, owing to warm weather across Europe.
August demand is usually subdued amid holiday absences.
