EU, eurozone chemical producer prices down slightly in June

LONDON (ICIS)--Chemical producer prices in the EU fell by 0.1% in June from the previous month and declined by 0.2% in the eurozone, official data showed on Friday.

Prices were also down in both regions year on year, with prices falling by 0.7% in the EU in June compared with the same month in 2012, and declining by 0.9% in the eurozone over the same period.

Europe’s total industrial producer prices were stable in June compared with May in both the EU and the eurozone, according to estimates from EU statistical office Eurostat.

“Among the member states for which data are available, prices remained stable in Germany, Spain, Cyprus, Romania, Slovenia and Finland,” Eurostat said.

“The highest increases in the total index were observed in Estonia (+6.7%), Denmark (+0.5%), Italy and Malta (both +0.4%), and the largest decreases in Lithuania (-0.8%), the Netherlands (-0.4%), Latvia, Austria and the UK (all -0.3%),” it added.

On an annual basis, industrial producer prices rose by 0.6% in the EU and by 0.3% in the eurozone.

“Among the member states for which data are available, the highest increases in the total index were observed in Estonia (+14.2%), Romania (+4.9%) and Denmark (+3.6%), and the largest decreases in Cyprus (-2.1%), Poland (-1.3%) and Sweden (-1.2%),” Eurostat said.
