Europe August toluene contract confirmed at $1,110-1,115/tonne
August European toluene contracts have been confirmed at $1,110-1,115/tonne, buyers and sellers confirmed on Friday, up by $67.50/tonne from last month’s range on firm spot indications and upward pressure from the US market.
Arkema swings to Q2 net income gain despite lower sales
France-based specialties firm Arkema posted on Thursday a net profit of €112m ($149m) for the second quarter of the year compared with a €12m net loss during the same quarter in 2012, despite year-on-year falls in sales and earnings.
Bayer Q2 net profit up despite weak MaterialScience results
Bayer’s net profit for the second quarter of the year increased by 75% compared with the same period in 2012, as a strong growth for its life science and crop treatment divisions offset a weaker performance by its MaterialScience arm, the company said on Wednesday.
Catalysis, energy division earnings buoy Clariant Q2 profits
Strong earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) for Clariant’s catalysis and energy division helped to drive a 16% rise in net income for the Swiss chemicals producer, the company said on Tuesday.
Europe spot benzene steady-to-firm ahead of Aug CP
Following a bearish month, European benzene spot pricing has shown signs of recovery ahead of the August monthly contract, which will be settled later this week, sources said on Monday
