HOUSTON (ICIS)--Canadian oil and gas producer Nexen has awarded a three-year contract to Jacobs for engineering and procurement services for its Long Lake oil sands facility in Alberta, the US-based firm announced on Tuesday.
Long Lake is an integrated Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) enhanced oil recovery system and upgrading operation. The facility uses Nexen’s OrCrude technology, hydrocracking and gasification to produce Premium Synthetic Crude (PSC) oil.
The contract value was not disclosed.
“We are delighted to expand on our relationship with Nexen at the Long Lake site and provide them with engineering and procurement services,” said Mike Coyle, group vice president at Jacobs. “Our strength in sustaining capital project delivery combined with our team’s proven performance in SAGD technology supports Nexen in the growth of their oil sands facilities.”
