SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Malaysia’s Lotte Chemical Titan has restarted operations at its aromatics unit at Pasir Gudang in Malaysia after it was taken off line on 5 August because of a power outage, traders said.
The aromatics plant was restarted on 6 August, but its current operating rates could not be confirmed, the traders added.
The aromatics plant has a nameplate capacity of 130,000 tonnes/year of benzene and 70,000 tonnes/year of toluene, they said.
Flaring was seen at the Pasir Gudang production site on Monday afternoon, according to a source close to the company.
A customer of Lotte Chemical Titan said the company’s delivery of toluene cargoes in the region will likely resume in a week’s time because of the brief plant outage.
