LONDON (ICIS)--August acrylic acid (AA) contract prices in Europe have increased by €20/tonne ($27/tonne) from the previous month, on higher feedstock costs, sources said on Wednesday.

Contract prices are at €1,850-1,870/tonne FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe).

The August feedstock propylene contract price rose by €50/tonne.

AA spot prices are steady at €1,500-1,530/tonne FD NWE.

August demand is slower than it was in July as a number of players are on summer holiday, and many plants are undergoing regular maintenance.

AA and its esters are used in the manufacture of various plastics, coatings, adhesives and elastomers, as well as floor polishes and paints.
