LONDON (ICIS)--European second-quarter butadiene (BD) production fell by around 11% compared with the same period in 2012, according to statistics issued by the Association of Petrochemical Producers in Europe (APPE)* on Wednesday.
BD production totalled 456,000 tonnes in the April to June period, the lowest level since the second quarter of 2009, down by 54,000 tonnes year on year.
BD output was also down by around 11% from the first quarter of 2013, reflecting some scheduled maintenance but primarily weak demand which continues to put pressure on BD producers.
