China’s Xianglu Petrochemical shuts PTA unit for brief maintenance

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China's Xianglu Petrochemical shut down its 1.65m tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) unit at Xiamen in Fujian province on 15 August for maintenance, a company source said on Thursday.

While the PTA unit will be off line for five days, its shutdown will not affect the producer's contract supply to customers, the source added.

As Xianglu Petrochemical had reduced the PTA unit’s operating rate in late June because of mechanical issues, the source said these will be resolved during the turnaround.
