SINGAPORE (ICIS)--SCG-DOW is currently running its propylene oxide (PO) plant in Thailand at reduced rates around 75-85%, industry sources said on Thursday.
It is not yet known if PO production at the unit is likely to be increased in the foreseeable future, in light of a price rally for the material during the past few weeks. Company officials have also declined to provide further details.
During the week, spot PO prices have climbed to levels above $1,700/tonne CFR China amid tight availability in the import market, according to ICIS.
The 390,000 tonne/year PO unit is located at the Asia Industrial Estate site near Map Ta Phut at Rayong Province in Thailand. Dow has a 150,000 tonne/year downstream monopropylene glycol (MPG) facility at the same site.
SCG-Dow is a joint venture between Dow Chemical and Siam Cement Group (SCG).
