HOUSTON (ICIS)--US Westlake Chemical has experienced production issues at its Lake Charles cracker in Louisiana, sources said on Friday.
Several buyers and traders said that the company’s No.1 cracker in Lake Charles experienced at least a partial shutdown because of furnace and mechanical issues.
Some sources said the cracker was completely shut down, while others said there was only a partial shutdown.
The cracker has 544,000 tonnes/year of ethylene capacity, according to ICIS plants and projects.
Sources agreed there was no timetable for the duration of the outage. Attempts to reach a company spokesperson were unsuccessful.
