SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japanese firm JX Nippon Oil & Energy’s 350,000 tonne/year paraxylene (PX) unit at Kawasaki remains shut, with no definite restart date in the near term, a company source said on Wednesday.
The PX unit was shut on 19 August, following an outage at its upstream 460,000 tonne/year naphtha cracker at the same site.
“An exact date for restart at the PX unit remains uncertain, as this decision will highly depend on the restart date at the naphtha cracker,” the source said.
According to the source, the PX unit will be restarted 1-2 days after the cracker restarts.
