LONDON (ICIS)--Monoethanolamine (MEA) imports into the EU fell slightly in June year on year, while exports rose, according to data from European statistics agency Eurostat late on Tuesday.

Imports decreased by 4% in June, while exports increased by 41%.

Demand from downstream applications such as the esterquats (clothes softener) market has been flat. Other applications such as the construction sector continue to display soft demand, weighed down by the recession in the eurozone.

Eurostat import/export data is subject to revision as more detailed information becomes available.
