SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Chinese traders are raising their domestic high density polyethylene (HDPE) injection prices in line with the expectations of tight supply in September, industry sources said on Friday.
Spot HDPE injection prices in north China are at yuan (CNY) 10,900-11,200/tonne compared with 10600-10900/tonne on Monday, local traders said.
Current prices are higher by CNY300/tonne from the assessed prices on 26 August, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.
Domestic supply tightened as the major suppliers were not scheduled to produce HDPE injection in September.
Shenhua (Baotou) Charcoal Chemical’s 300,000tonne/year HDPE/LLDPE swing unit, in Inner Mongolia planned to produce LLDPE film from HDPE injection grade by the end of August.
PetroChina’s Dushanzi Petrochemical’s 300,000tonne/year HDPE/LLDPE swing unit, in Sinkiang province mainly produces HDPE film and HDPE pipe grade in September.
While Daqing Petrochina’s 250,000tonne/year HDPE/LLDPE swing unit will be under maintenance in September, according to the production schedule.
