US July EPS exports rose 2.8% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US exports of expandable polystyrene (EPS) for July rose 2.8% from the same month in 2012, according to data made available on Friday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).

US EPS exports rose to 6,767 tonnes in July 2013 from 6,580 tonnes in the same month of 2012.

Mexico, Canada and Brazil were the top destinations for US exports, with Mexico and Canada taking less material than in 2012 and Brazil taking over four times more.

US EPS imports rose by 5.4% in July to 15,352 tonnes, up from 14,563 tones in 2012. The Bahamas, Canada and Mexico were the top importers into the US.

Major North American EPS producers are BASF, Nova Chemicals, Flint Hills Resources, Styrochem and Nexkemia.
