SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Fujian Southeast Electrochemical Co plans to start up its 100,000 tonne/year toluene di-isocyanate (TDI) plant, located in Fuqing City, in November, a company source said on Wednesday.

“The TDI unit has two lines, each with a capacity of 50,000 tonnes/year. The infrastructure construction of this unit has been completed,” the company source said in Mandarin.

The company plans to debug one of the TDI lines at the new plant in November and bring it on stream by the end of this year, the source added.

The 100,000 tonne/year TDI plant is part of a combined project which includes a 120,000 tonne/year caustic soda unit and a 100,000 tonne/year polyvinyl chloride (PVC) unit. The first phase of the project involved an investment of yuan (CNY) 4bn ($654m).
