SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s LCY Chemical is operating its 250,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) plant in Kaohsiung at full capacity after restarting it over the weekend of 14-15 September, a company source said on Tuesday.
The restart of the PP plant will have little impact on the domestic market in the near term, because prices will be supported by the current tight supply, market participants said.
However, supply tightness is expected to ease over the coming weeks when LCY Chemical starts offering its PP cargoes, the participants added.
The company has a second 150,000 tonne/year PP plant at the same Kaohsiung site operating at 100% capacity currently, the company source said.
