SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Oriental Petrochemical has achieved on-spec purified terephthalic acid (PTA) at its newly restarted 500,000 tonne/year plant at Kuan Yin in Taoyuan on Friday, a company source said.
The plant was taken off line for planned maintenance on 1 September and resumed production on 18 September, the source said.
“We have already obtained on-spec products today and we target to operate the unit at full rate to compensate some of production losses,” the source said.
The company’s other PTA unit, which has a 400,000 tonne/year capacity at the site, was running at around 80% of capacity, the source said.
